Adam’s Peak

This mountain is famous for its pilgrimages. Indeed, for millennia, pilgrims have come to climb its 2,200-meter side at night. Adam, Buddha and Shiva would have left their mark.
Although its ascent is exhausting, you will be able to contemplate the sunrise and take a few breaks in the many tea houses that punctuate the route.

Anuradhapura

This 7,179 km² city was the capital of the country and seat of Sinhalese power for about 15 centuries, and you can feel it when you visit its walls. Buddhism is omnipresent in this sublime city, so be sure to learn about the local rules of conduct before visiting the many temples. This ancient marvel is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and contains treasures such as the Bô tree under which Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment. https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/200/

Sigiriya and the Lion Rock

This former royal capital of Sri Lanka is one of the country’s major archaeological sites and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The gardens alone are worth a visit as they are beautiful and lush. You can climb to the top of the famous lion rock, the ascent begins between its two legs.
At the top, you will find magnificent ruins but above all an incredible panoramic view of the surroundings. https://www.srilanka.travel/attraction&attraction_id=160

Anecdote: have you heard of the guardians of Sigiriya? When you visit this beautiful city, you will be able to see on the terrace of the west face, in height, brown spots stuck to the wall. These are swarms of giant hornets, which have been there for years. Sometimes the hornets attack visitors, hence the presence of a metal grid, to avoid any accident. The government tried  many times to dislodge the insects in vain, since legend has it that they are the guardians of the city.

Polonnaruwa

This city has a precious treasure that it is wise to come and visit. Indeed, you will find in Polonnaruwa a gigantic archaeological site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site: https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/201/
Do not forget to visit the famous Gal Vihara, an impressive set of ruins with its incredible sculpted Buddhas, larger than life!

For an even more unique and unforgettable experience: visit this place steeped in culture and history during sunset to benefit from the dewy light that embraces the buildings.
Dambulla and its caves
These are 5 caves, holy places of Buddhism. You can admire many statues in the image of Buddha, but the most impressive are the wall frescoes which still have bright colors, so much so that we even talk about the Golden Temple of Dambulla:
