When you think of Thailand, you immediately dream of sandy beaches bordered by turquoise water and tropical heat. The country is full of heavenly beaches and you will be spoiled for choice for swimming across the country. Here is an overview of the main seaside regions of Thailand where you can indulge in a relaxing session …
Phuket and the Andaman Coast
With superb tourist infrastructure, Phuket is one of the most famous seaside resorts on the planet. Nearly 1,000 kilometers south of Bangkok, Phuket is the country’s largest island and stretches for 21 kilometers. Connected to the mainland by a road, it has a coast bordered by white sandy beaches and pretty bays in the transparent waters of the Andaman Sea with a backdrop of lush hills with tropical vegetation covered in particular by thousands of coconut trees.
Koh Chang and the East Coast
Koh Chang or Elephant Island, is part of an archipelago of 52 islands located in Mu Ko Chang National Park. It is after Phuket, the second largest island in the Kingdom of Thailand. With unspoiled green nature and virgin forests, it still has many wild beaches. The most beautiful, however, are concentrated on the west coast of the island. Koh Chang and other islands on the south east coast such as Ko Samet are true paradises for Thai city dwellers who come here to get fresh air.
Hua Hin and the Gulf of Thailand
Hua Hin is famous for its splendid sandy beach which stretches over three kilometers. Located on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand, the sunniest coast, Hua Hin about 300 km from Bangkok. It was there that in 1920, King Rama VII built a summer palace, and the royal family still resides there for part of the summer. However, unlike Pattaya, the other well-known beach destination located across the Gulf, Hua Hin has retained a quintessentially Thai feel.
The South West of the Gulf of Thailand and its islands
Three of the most beautiful islands in the land of smiles are found in the southwestern Gulf of Thailand namely Ko Samui, Ko Pha-Ngan and Ko Tao. Endowed with fine sandy beaches and a vibrant nightlife, Ko Samui enchants visitors eager for a change of scenery and a fiesta. Located 30 minutes by boat from the north of Koh Samui, Ko Pha-Ngan is the ideal island for all those who love tranquility and wild and unspoiled beaches. As for the small island of Ko Tao, it is above all famous for scuba diving and snorkeling due to the richness of its seabed but it is also popular for its superb Sairee beach which stretches over nearly 2 km not far from the main hotels and restaurants.
