Back to the Maldives the sunny side of life<\/strong><\/p>\n

With its more than 1,200 islands<\/strong>, the Maldives archipelago has a multitude of resorts.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the activities we suggest you do is see the backdrop of a resort<\/span><\/p>\n

The Maldives are at the forefront of the effects of global warming. That is why for years, steps have been taken to make more efficient use of this country\u2019s very limited resources.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the flow of tourists, the island-hotels have a front row seat and many have implemented concrete measures to be as eco-friendly as possible. Among these islands, we can cite the pioneers Soneva fushi or its sister island Soneva Gili, where luxury rhymes with ecology. But they are not the only ones who are making efforts to minimize the ecological impact. Several islands are opting for the reuse of wastewater, local crops of products intended to restore hosts, waste reduction or green electricity production, the list of actions implemented is still long.<\/span><\/p>\n

More and more Resorts allow visitors to take a behind-the-scenes look at an island and observe the efforts being made to minimize their footprint on the planet. It is a visit lasting an hour or two that can profoundly change the view, often clich\u00e9, conveyed about stays in the Maldives. It is also an opportunity to discover how to make a coral confetti without fresh water lost in the ocean, a small paradise where all is luxury, calm and pleasure. A visit off the beaten track, but unmissable.<\/span><\/p>\n

We come to the end of this \u201cdiscovery week\u201d of the Maldives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes, all the Maldives clich\u00e9s are true. The sand, so white and so fine<\/strong>, is also incredibly soft. The sea, turquoise on the edge of the beach and deep blue offshore<\/strong>, lets see the fish as it is crystal clear. Coconut palms add a hint of green to this palette of blues, and a light sea breeze makes the air temperature – and water temperature bearable! -, around 30 \u00b0 C.<\/span><\/p>\n

These paradisiacal islands of the Indian Ocean, which make the dream of the lovers of the whole world, largely keep their promises. Moreover, upon discovering them, the Italian George Corbin, a traveler who loves diving, said he gasped. It was he who, in 1972, joined forces with a Maldivian to set up the first hotel on one of the 1190 islets forming a long garland of 26 coral atolls. The concept of \u201cone island, one hotel\u201d was born.<\/span><\/p>\n

May culture lovers go their way! Here, we savor, eye to eye – the destination is ideal for a romantic stay – and feet in the sand, a lazy parenthesis under the sign of the three S’s: sun, sand and sea (sun, sand and sea, in English). Whether on Faarufushi Island<\/strong> or on Kuramathi Island<\/strong>, we leave with a light heart and light luggage. In the suitcase, a swimsuit, sunscreen and a book will be more than enough.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once you arrive on your island-hotel, give up your luggage, shoes and wallet for a week of total pleasure. The vast majority of them are easily covered on foot. Carts also run throughout the day. The establishments are often very luxurious: vast halls open to the outside, small houses cleverly isolated or, the height of comfort, villas on stilts, with no other vis-\u00e0-vis than the lagoon, to contemplate from a private infinity pool. So many ingredients that invite you to disconnect … Even if wi-fi and television are available. Between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., sit on a fine sandbank and look west to admire the sunset. Now is the time for couples to tenderly sacrifice to the ritual of the selfie. Do you want more privacy? Take a boat trip just before dark. Finally, to top off a stay focused on well-being, all hotels have a spa where Balinese and Thai masseuses work wonders. Unmissable, even if the prices are the same as in Paris (count around 90 \u20ac for a one-hour massage).<\/span><\/p>\n

Just stand at the edge of the water to see harmless black tip sharks making their way among the tiny fish circulating in schools. During snorkeling sessions with mask and snorkel – beware of sunburn, especially on the shoulders and calves -, moray eels, manta rays, clown fish or surgeons parade under the eyes of divers, who can hear the crackling of the nibbled corals by fish. Moreover, do not abuse them, they are weakened and turn white under the effect of global warming, one of the major concerns of Maldivians. Not exceeding 2 m above sea level, the archipelago risks submersion and anticipates the disappearance, in about fifty years, of its smaller islands.<\/span><\/p>\n
