Sigiriya - Pasikudah

  • Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. It is a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock approximately 180 metres (590 ft) high.

Day 04
Pasikudah – Kandy

  • Dambulla is part of the Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka. Five caves made of living rock and decorated with sculptures and murals are the most significant heritage. Pre-Brahmi inscriptions dating back to the third century BC, and murals from the eighteenth centuries, show human activity over a long time.

  • Kandy is a major city of Sri Lanka, located in the Central Province. It was the capital of the ancient kings of Sri Lanka. It is located in the Kandy plateau's hills, where you can see a large area of tea plantations. Kandy serves as the capital of Central Province and is an administrative and religious center. Kandy is home to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, Sri Dalada Maligawa, one of the most sacred places of Buddhist worship.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

  • Explore Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden
  • The Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya can be found about 5.5km west of Kandy in Central Province of Sri Lanka. The garden was visited by over 1.2 million locals in 2016 and over 400,000 tourists from abroad. It is located near the Mahaweli River, Sri Lanka's longest river. It is well-known for its orchid collection. It contains more than 4000 species, including medicinal and tropical plants. It is also home to the "National Herbarium of Sri Lanka". It covers 147 acres (0.59km2) and is located at 460m above sea level. The garden receives 200 days of annual rainfall. It is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of National Botanic Gardens.

Day 07
Nuwara Eliya to Colombo

It has a fantastic view of the Colombo harbor, lighthouse with clock tower (older than Big Ben in London) close to the president’s house and old parliament. Afterwards, proceed through the main street passing the old Dutch Museum, belfry and old City Hall which houses puppets of earlier governors of Sri Lanka.
  • Stop will be made at the Old Dutch hospital with shops and restaurants facing Sri Lanka’s twin tower buildings. Continue to the old race course with a maze of buildings with colonial architecture,

Day 08
Colombo to Airport
