After lunch, drive to the forgotten city of Palenque, which reached its peak between 600 and 700 AD Like other cities in the central Mayan territory, it ceased to exist after the 9th century. It is likely that it was abandoned following a popular revolt against the dominant and authoritarian caste of priests.

There, you board a motor boat to reach the archaeological site of Yaxchilan where great serenity reigns simply disturbed by the words of the spider monkeys and the sudden flight of the toucans. The luxurious palaces of yesteryear covered in the jungle seem to have become fixed in history.
The city was built between 200 and 900 AD, it was ruled by Jaguar Shield who continued to expand his power through three unions and numerous battles. Leave traces of their history, scribes carved in stone, often basaltic, more important events that mark their life as their ruler: it is thanks to their knowledge and skill that we know today 300 years of this prestigious past.

This Mecca of Mayan art whose structures are scattered throughout the heart of the Chiapanec rainforest is considered one of the most beautiful cities pre-Columbian from Mexico. The building on more amazing is undoubtedly the Temple to the Inscriptions at the heart of which were discovered the tomb of King Pakal and his famous jade mask. Continuation to Campeche with lunch on the way.

Then, drive to Mérida and panoramic visit of the city, also known as the “white city” whose residences from the colonial era with French, Italian and Arab influences from the beginning of the 20th century bear witness to the past wealth of which the origin was the exploitation of sisal (agave from Mexico).
