Tanzania, a dream land for discovery
Few places can, like Tanzania, offer such a varied and intensely beautiful change of scenery. A safari in this equatorial African country bordered by the Indian Ocean, home to one of the largest concentrations of wild animals in the world, will be etched in your memory. The spectacle is as much on the side of the animals as of the diversity of the landscapes and the reliefs which unfold before your eyes.
From the Manyara huddled around its lake to the vast expanses of the Serengeti, passing by Noah’s ark gathered in the impressive Ngorongoro crater, we have plenty of eyes! Come on, spotlight on the country’s parks. Hakuna Matata!
To conclude this wonderful week dedicated to Tanzania, let’s explore Kilimanjaro National Park
Snow-capped Kilimanjaro is surrounded by savannas and forests where species of grasses and larger trees like the Baobab continue to amaze. The surrounding forests, such as the dry forest or the Njoro forest, are sometimes sacred places crowned with mysteries. Kilimanjaro is THE destination for African safari enthusiasts.
Mount Kilimanjaro or the “Roof of Africa” stands proudly on the southern border of Kenya. It is the highest peak in the world accessible on foot (5,896 m), a true paradise for hikers and trekkers in an incredible setting. The ascent which lasts a few days is accessible to rather trained walkers. It includes two main peaks: the Kibo and the Mawenzi and six routes that lead to the summit: Marangu and Machame, the most beautiful and easy, Mweka, Umbwe, Shira and Rongai for more experienced hikers. It is best to make the ascent in a group with a guide.
Another national park is also to visit that of Ruaha
About a two hours flight from Dar Es Salaam, discover Tanzania’s largest park! Over 21,000 km2 of unspoiled nature. The great river of Ruaha attracts many animals: birds, buffaloes, antelopes, lions, leopards, antelopes and more than 10,000 elephants; it is the largest concentration of elephants in the country. You will be immersed in the heart of nature, in the middle of the savannah and surrounded by baobabs; the change of scenery is guaranteed! Ruaha Park specializes in luxury safaris. There are three high-end camps directly in the heart of the park to sleep with optimum comfort in the wilderness.
Another exceptional place to discover Lake Natron
Lake Natron is located in the far north of Tanzania, on the Maasai lands which make perfect guides for you to discover this region. The south of the lake is the most visited part, facing the impressive volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai, the “mountain of the Maasai gods” which is still active. Lake Natron is located in a very arid region and the water in the lake is saturated with sodium and suffers which makes flora and fauna virtually non-existent. Only lesser flamingos and birds seem to find their happiness in the waters of this lake. Seen from the sky, you can admire the range of colors of the lake: pink, red, blue depending on the season and the height of the lake.
Another lake to visit: Lake Manyara
Often, visitors overlook Lake Manyara National Park wrongly because it contains a very diverse fauna: giraffes, lions, leopards, hippos, baboons, monkeys … Its dense undergrowth is populated by many varieties of butterflies. , which gives a magical atmosphere to the visit! The further you go in the park, the drier the vegetation becomes and the forest gradually gives way to the bush. The fauna is different, it is here the domain of wildebeest, zebras and buffaloes. Around Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake, many animals come to cool off; this is where you will see many birds and wading birds such as pelicans and flamingos.
We can’t talk about these must-see places in Tanzania without mentioning Gombe Stream National Park
It is the smallest park in the country, its area is only 52km2 and is located in the north of the country between Lake Tanganyika and a mountain range. It owes its reputation to Jane Goodall, a primatologist who moved to the area in 1960 to study chimpanzees. Since then the animal reserve has become a national park, a veritable sanctuary for chimpanzees, baboons and many species of birds.
And to conclude, we make you discover Dar es Salaam
The port city of Dar es Salaam has a national museum which houses important artefacts relating to the history of black African civilization. A stopover city, it offers various tourist attractions, starting with its beaches. Many sites such as the Baie des Huîtres are ideal places for windsurfing and lazing around.
It’s hard to introduce you to a country so big like Tanzania in a week, and 6 publications.
We had to make some difficult choices, should we tell you about this place rather than another?
We relied on the advice of our local receptive agencies. Tanzania is a territory almost twice the size of France, it is a unique, wonderful, fantastic, paradisiacal place, everything is there to make your stay there a dream….
