Sri Lanka amazing beaches

Last day to discover Sri Lanka, which since you visited it with us undoubtedly bears its name very well: “The wonder of Asia”

But before starting this visit, Buddhika, the CEO of our local receptive agency in Sri Lanka,  asked me to teach you an essential word in Sri Lankan: Ayubowan! Ayubowan is a bit like Shalom in Hebrew, a way of saying Hello or Goodbye, learn this word Ayubowan well, it will serve you on your next trip to Sri Lanka.

To conclude this journey we will take you first to Jaffna

In the far north of the island, the Jaffna Peninsula is the heart of Sri Lankan Tamil culture. Sidelined during years of civil war, the region is gradually opening up to tourism. Jaffna immerses you in a different Sri Lanka. “Authentic” is the word that comes up most often in the mouths of travelers to Jaffna. Everything changes here: the language, the religion, the customs, the cuisine, the climate. In a predominantly Buddhist country, you will immediately be surprised to see so many colorful Hindu temples, similar to those in South India. Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil Temple is the most important Hindu place of worship in the country. A tuk-tuk ride around the peninsula is interesting to discover the wild landscapes of the coast, to the village of Point Pedro.

On the road from Colombo, discover the Kalpitiya Peninsula and Wilpattu National Park. In Kalpitiya, you can go kitesurfing or take a boat trip to watch dolphins. In Wilpattu Park, the largest in the country, go on a safari to meet wildlife. Ask our local DMC, he will take care of EVERYTHING for you.

And who travels to Sri Lanka must go through the beaches of the south : Sri Lanka amazing beaches

The south of the island is known for its superb white sand beaches fringed by coconut palms overlooking the Indian Ocean. From Galle to Tangalle, the atmospheres differ according to your desires. Unawatuna, right next to Galle, has the advantage of offering a wide choice of accommodation, and allows you to stay at the beach while going to Galle Fort in a tuk-tuk ride! The large bay of Weligama is known to surfers, it is also here that the famous fishermen perched on stilts can be found. Mirissa, nestled in a small bay, is often the most popular beach for travelers for its relaxed and festive atmosphere. It is also very popular with surfers. From the big city of Matara, the coastline becomes more and more wild. Tangalle‘s huge beach stretches for miles.

Beyond having become seaside sites, the beaches of the South allow you to discover places of life and meet the local population. In this heavenly setting, stop for a coconut in a tavern, explore fishing villages or climb aboard colorful tuk-tuk to roam the surrounding rice fields. A local experience is essential to conclude your trip to Sri Lanka.

As you can see, Sri Lanka is a different country, another culture, another language (even if the vast majority of locals speak perfect English). It is also a different gastronomy, far removed from our Israeli standards. This trip will be an opportunity for you to open up to the world, to connect with people, who, you will see, are probably the most welcoming in the world, and to discover different horizons.

Sri Lanka is a pearl, a rare pearl even, you will love to visit this country, and you know what? You will go back.

The number of messages received from you continues to grow every day, and we thank you for being so responsive to our publications.

I would like to warmly thank our local DMC without whom this report would not have been possible. His knowledge of the land, the country, the customs allowed us to briefly describe this Wonder of Asia.
