Even today we will continue our discovery of The wonder of Asia, Sri Lanka.

On a trip to Sri Lanka, Dambulla is a must-see cultural site north of Kandy. It is located about twenty kilometers from Sigiriya and its famous Lion Rock. Listed as a Unesco heritage, Dambulla is home to the “Golden Temple”. and sacred caves. It is at the heart of the Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka.

Chosen as a refuge by a king driven from Anuradhapura, he transformed the caves of Dambulla into beautifully decorated temples. This rock complex dating from the 2nd century BC is one of the most beautiful sites in Sri Lanka. You cannot miss the Golden Temple dominated by its imposing Golden Buddha. Take the stairs on the sides to reach the caves at the top of the hill. Inside you will find ancient wall paintings and numerous Buddha statues. You discover the oldest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka. Let’s continue our journey by going to visit Galle

Pronounced “Gallé” in Sinhala and “Gaulle” in English, it is the most charming town on the island! The Portuguese initiated the construction of the fort in the 16th century, the Dutch enlarged it by building the ramparts in the 17th century. Then, under British occupation, the port of Galle became the most important in the country. Today, the old town of Galle and its fortifications are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Buddhist churches, mosques and temples bear witness to the different communities living in Galle. In the picturesque alleys, cafes, restaurants and shops follow one another in the middle of colonial buildings. Magnificent Dutch-style colonial mansions are transformed into boutique hotels. Pay attention to your budget: a night in the Fort de Galle costs more than elsewhere in the country! At sunset, meet in front of the Galle lighthouse, an essential landmark of the city, to go for a walk on the ramparts.
