Iconic buildings, luxury boutiques and breathtaking walks: Downtown Dubai is a must-see for any visitor to the city.
Downtown Dubai won’t disappoint: this district is home to some of the world’s most iconic landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountain. In addition to its luxury boutiques, its phenomenal architecture and its five-star hotels, the district enjoys a pleasant community atmosphere thanks to the numerous pedestrian zones that compose it.
To fully appreciate your time in Dubai, head to the observation deck of the world’s tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa, from where you can take wonderful photos of the entire city. A few meters away you will find the Dubai Fountain with its unique sound and light show, as well as the Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in the world.
Although the Downtown is a fairly urban area, you will find various parks there such as the Burj Park which offers a prime location and regularly schedules important events, such as the OTB Market, a pop-up market organized in winter during the Dubai Shopping Festival.
Stroll along the magnificent walks located along Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and whose alleys are lined with listed restaurants. You cannot miss the grandiose structure of the Dubai Opera, the vibrant heart of entertainment with its many shows, concerts and plays. This area is particularly popular in the evening; when the palm trees light up, visitors flock to the terraces or dress in their finery to go to the last performance.
Downtown Dubai also has its own transport network: the Dubai Trolley. It is the first tram in the world running on hydrogen; it travels along Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, transporting passengers between the various landmarks of Dubai.
In this district you will discover a mixture of modern and traditional architecture with tall towers and glittering buildings, but also typical Arab structures and numerous parks. It is without a doubt the best area in Dubai.
How to get there: If you choose the Dubai Metro, get off at Burj Khalifa / The Dubai Mall station. If you want to go to the Dubai Mall, you will only have to cross one bridge.
