With its many boutique hotels, neighborhood shops and typical restaurants, Al Barsha is a district full of surprises. Located in New Town, south of Dubai, it is best known for hosting the Mall of the Emirates, a shopping center with hundreds of upscale boutiques and an indoor ski slope, located near several five star hotels.
In this attractive residential area, you can choose from dozens of enticing addresses: it is the ideal destination to discover local flavors or cuisines from around the world. Sample Nepalese momos, Egyptian kocharis, Lebanese shawarmas, Pakistani curries, and Filipino adobos. Prefer take-out meals to organize a small sunny picnic at Barsha Pond Park.
In this neighborhood you will also find Barsha Heights, known for hosting many mid-range hotels, residential towers, and offices. Further south, the Barsha South district is home to many small shopping centers, but also villas, offices and apartments.
It is in this unfussy setting that you will find the famous Dubai Miracle Garden. Open only in winter, this floral paradise unveils several hectares of decorative floral arrangements, some of which are unique in the world, but also the largest butterfly garden in existence, where thousands of species come together under air-conditioned domes.
An enchanting floral universe awaits you at the Dubai Miracle Garden, the largest natural flower garden in the world. The 72,000 m² park has an impressive selection of famous buildings and structures made entirely of flowers, each more colorful than the next.
Walk the heart-shaped path, a popular spot with Instagrammers, stroll among castles lit up at night or admire life-size plant houses. More than 50 million flowers bloom through the different exhibitions. All these installations of a wide variety of atypical floral arrangements will dazzle you.

The magnificent “floating woman” erected with exotic flowers is a must, as is the main alley along which daily entertainment is organized, including parades, performances by street artists and other family activities. The dazzling Butterfly Garden is another must-see with its over 15,000 butterflies flying through nine domes specially designed for them. Be sure to plan your excursion in advance as the park is generally closed during the summer months to ensure renovations and installation of new exhibits.
How to get there: If you choose the Dubai Metro, get off at Mall of the Emirates station on the red line. Otherwise, get off at Dubai Internet City station to reach Barsha Heights. Al Barsha South is just a short taxi ride away.
