Discovering Bahrain, the pearl of the Middle East

Discovering Bahrain, the pearl of the Middle East

Why talk about Bahrain today?

The reasons are multiple, if you follow the news, you know that the State of Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain signed peace agreements last September. Economic exchanges between these two countries are already numerous, and if it wasn’t for the pandemic of the Covid, tourism would have already started.

If all goes as planned, the first flights between the two countries are expected to begin mid-March . We recommend that you travel with Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, in addition to the quality of their fleet, the service is worthy of 5 star luxury.

And you, Israeli tourists will be able to discover all the beauties of this country, Bahrain.

Between the ocher color of the beaches, the blond sand of the desert, the intense blue of the sea and the luminosity of the sky, Bahrain will make you experience intense moments, in a whirlwind of sensations and emotions.

Located in the Persian Gulf, this small kingdom, barely seven times the size of the city of Paris, is made up of 36 islands, the main one of which is linked to Saudi Arabia by a 25 kilometers long set of bridges and dikes.

Between aquatic amusement parks, fortresses, prestigious museums, majestic mosques, this country will offer you a multitude of distractions which will satisfy lovers of nature and old stones.

Start by visiting Fort Qal’at al-Bahrain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a magnificent fortress built by the Portuguese, then its archaeological site, a vestige of the mysterious and very ancient Dilmun civilization. This is where the world’s largest necropolis lies near the village of A’Aali : bizarre mounds, some of which house royal tombs over 3,000 years old, line a desert landscape.

Rich in its historical past and its traditions, the Kingdom of Bahrain will also surprise you with its modernity. The capital, Manama, has boldly shaped buildings. It houses the National Museum, rich in its collections on the Dilmun civilization, and one of the largest mosques in the world, the Al Fateh Mosque. But Manama has preserved its customs and you will love strolling through its souk with its many scents of the Orient.

Between hot desert and hot sea, the kingdom of Bahrain will fascinate you.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is not really a go to destination when you are used to western culture. Its size makes it difficult to locate in the Persian Gulf, making it easy to be confused with its more popular neighbors, such as Dubai.

And that’s a shame, because Bahrain is one of those little treasures of the Middle East, hiding a history as old as Egypt, ancestral traditions taking their source long before the Persian or European invasions, in the Dilmun civilization, and a current dynamic without common measure, driven by its 50% expatriate population and the openness of its local population.

Small archipelago of 33 islands, we discover with wonder its ancestral tradition of pearl fishing, its traditional alleys covered with street art, its air-conditioned souk and its brand new buildings, alongside old historic forts of stone and sand.

This is where the whole point of a trip to Bahrain lies, a country suspended between tradition and modernity.
